    In August 1947, British India was hastily partitioned. Independence was attended by a bloodbath. Over a million people were killed and  8 million made refugees - Hindus Muslims and Sikhs: But that tragic legacy is slowly being eroded through another British legacy - the Railways.

    The stories of some of the people who work, travel or depend on these railway lines take us on a journey through the sub-continent as they share their hopes needs and desires on INDIA’S FRONTIER RAILWAYS.

  • 2014 - GUILD OF TELEVISION CAMERAMEN

    Producer/director Gerry Troyna gave the keynote speech about starting in television as a sound recordist with Keith Massey before progressing to a variety of jobs learning the skills required for a career in broadcasting. Gerry has directed Panorama and wildlife programmes and spoke with admiration about the different qualities cameramen bring to a team and the different genres.

    Some years ago Gerry was asked to make a pilot for a series that subsequently became Great Railway Journeys of the World. Given a choice for his next film in the series, Gerry chose to go to India and this started a love affair with the country. He spoke of his passion for documentaries and has returned to India many times to film in the sub-continent for with series such as Monsoon Railway, Indian Hill Railways and, most recently, India’s Frontier Railways that will be completed 2015 for BBC Four.

    LIFELINE EXPRESS - India's Hospital Train, Was selected for screening at MIFF on 3rd February in Mumbai India. The film was introduced by Zelma Lazarus CEO Impact India Foundation.
